I'm writing in small so it's more manageable har har har.
so the first thing I though when I saw this was WOAHHH. not the most intelligent thing, but the point being the overall creepiness and the 'bamph!' of the pose and everything is just. so cool. so that's why the high impact rating!! : D
one of the first things that strike me is the character who i think has a very unique and effective design! I love the whole masked spider-type-thing idea. the pose is really good as well, like he's rearing back and ready to pounce on you or something. i think to add to the chaos, having the picture titled at an angle would have looked so awesome, kind of like a movie shot!
the most DISTRACTING thing is the mask... while everything else is coloured dully to show the drakness of the cave it's like AAH sudden brightness! it should be a lot darker, this would also make the eyes stand out more. what i do like is the cobwebs getting darker a you go into the cave, you can really see where the light is coming from. but no so much on Non there? while the light source isn't so apparent you've still defined muscle and bone shape with the colouring really well. and... i'm a huge fan of painterly styles of colouring. ;u; you drew the texture of the cave SO WELL! (more along the bottom than the top)
I think though, you could have had another colour for shading near the outside of the cave to show the light coming in, it would give you a break from all the red and it'd look goood.
uhh this is a really messy crit but i'm gonna finish up now, i dunno i think you did a realy good job on most things haha.
overall: captivating character, foreground and background work well together, good, consistent colouring used throughout.. good job! :] I think the main thing you should work on is use of colour - like the whole cave wouldn't be just one shade of red, dimming down the mask shades to suit the environment, stuff like that.
I hope this helps you!!
